A safety officer (Site Coordinator) has been hired who will be updating his skills in current safety guidelines to be followed by oil and gas exploration and producing companies. In addition, the company through its Horizontal Jet Drilling, will be using acid as a part of the process. KOS is insisting that the Site Coordinator will be required to follow the latest Hazmat procedures for the industry.

Requirements

• It will be the task of the Site Coordinator to understand safety rules and regulations.
• Each operator is required to conduct his operation and maintain his equipment as to reduce to a minimum the danger of explosion, fire or waste.
• All tests for production should be started and completed during daylight hours unless approval is obtained by the Supervisor.
• Any rubbish, debris, or vegetation that might constitute a fire hazard shall be removed to a distance of at least one hundred (100) feet from the vicinity of wells to be tested.
• All waste shall be burned or disposed of in such a manner as to avoid creating a fire hazard or polluting streams and fresh water strata.

Planning

• It will be the task of the Site Coordinator to develop an action plan for each well site detailing safety requirements.
• The safety action plan will focus on injury and injury related incidence during drilling.
• The action plan will address contacts of the appropriate state agency and emergency personnel prior to permitting.

- Safety requirements will be addressed in such a manner to show a map of the closest hospital and facilities that will be contacted in the event of an injury.

Closest hospitals are to be shown on a map submitted as part of the action plan in the permit application.
